JetBlue is on fire and is being quite generous this season, with points being easier to earn than ever. I’ve recently flown in JetBlue Mint class between Los Angeles and New York and loved the experience from start to finish, so ways to earn JetBlue points are always on my radar.
Just in time for Independence Day, JetBlue is offering a TrueBlue Points match, starting today, Friday, June 24. If you’re a Virgin America® Elevate® member looking to spread your wings, but don’t want to lose out on any points – then you’ve met your match! You can earn huge amounts of bonus points with JetBlue by showing your Elevate® Points balance by 7/4/2016. Then when you book and fly one roundtrip JetBlue flight by 8/31/16, JetBlue will match (or give you more) TrueBlue points!
Here’s what you can earn:
A Closer Look:
This promotion can be very lucrative, and Virgin America points are pretty easy to earn without actually flying. If you’ve already participated in the “refer-a-friend” promotion in the spring (to earn 2,500 points by referring 5 friends), then you’re already eligible to earn 5,000 JetBlue points (~$70 value at minimum) when you points match and take a round-trip flight.
If you currently have a Virgin America Elevate account with a 0 balance and you want to be eligible for the promotion at the lowest level, you can transfer 1,000 Membership Rewards points to get 500 Elevate points. 100 Elevate points = 200 Membership Rewards points, and Membership Rewards points must be transferred in increments of 200. This option is also good off your Virgin America points to the next level that can trigger a bigger bonus.
Take It A Step Forward:
If you want to take it a step forward and go big or go home with this promotion, you can apply for the Virgin America credit card to earn 10,000 points after meeting the minimum spend requirement (with the no annual fee card), which would trigger a whooping 30,000 JetBlue points during the points match! In order for this strategy to work though, you’ll have to get the card ASAP, meet the minimum spend ASAP, and then it’s YMMV if the points post in time for the July 4 cut off to submit your screen shot.
What’s interesting is that The JetBlue Plus Card has a sign-up bonus of 30,000 TrueBlue points (~$420 value). Even though it comes with a $99 annual fee, that’s almost instantly offset with the 5,000-point annual bonus (~$70).  You’ll also get a free checked bag, $100 off a JetBlue getaways package of $100 or more each year, and 10% back on redeemed awards.
If you use the The JetBlue Plus Card to purchase your round-trip points match flight, you’ll earn 6x on JetBlue purchases, so a $100 roundtrip would generate 1200 points (~16.80),  when you combine this with the 6x you already earn on JetBlue.com just for being a TrueBlue member.
JetBlue often has pretty great fare sales, including some super cheap last minute deals that they publish periodically on Twitter, so finding a round trip flight to take to make this promotion “worth it” shouldn’t be a problem at all. Bonus points if this promotion fits into your current JetBlue travel plans to begin with or inspires you to get out and travel.
Right now, there are also so many ways to earn JetBlue points so easily:
- The 3 new amazing JetBlue Credit Cards
- A chance to earn 5,000 TrueBlue points on EVERY JetBlue flight until June 30Â (targeted).
- Badges
- Family Pooling (Family Pooling is a unique way to earn and collect TrueBlue points with those “nearest and dearest†to you Families consist of up to 2 adults and up to 5 children. A “family†is however you define it: immediate/extended family, friends, roommates, or other points and miles fanatics. It’s up to you!)
I’m working on a strategy in my head right now to really take advantage of all that this #GoForthWithJetBlue promotion has to offer so that I can earn as many points as possible.
Are you going to participate in this promotion? If so, how many points will you strive to earn?

Considering it normally takes a full statement cycle for most sign-up bonuses to post, do you really think there’s a chance for the strategy to work?
Angelina Aucello says
I have no experience with the VA credit card but some of my sign up bonus points from other cards have posted a few days after the spend was met. Most tend to advertise (and adhere to) that it does take a statement cycle to post so there’s definitely some risk

Still working it out in my head as well but I think I’m going to transfer over 40,001 Starpoints.

Any idea how long it is taking people to hear back from JetBlue that they are registered for the Pointsmatch Promo ?
Thanks,
Beechy

The Points Guy says within hours. I emailed 7 hours ago and still nothing. Calling Jetblue but they don’t seem able to check.

Thanks Emile. I just hope they respond before the deadline. I submitted on Monday morning.

I sent in my email and didn’t hear back from them until 07/01 and unfortunately I was on vacation so I did not receive the email stating they needed a better screen shot of my VA points, so I sent it in today, I bet they do not accept it since it was sent after the cut off even though they had it on time but took forever to respond back to me, I guess I had way to many points for them to want to comp them to me, They would have had to comp me 50,000 points, I used to love VA until they misplaced our luggage and then accused us of stealing it when we finally located it at their Lost in Found which I called everyday for a week straight , worst customer service ever

Thanks for sharing. This morning, I transferred 60,000 points from Citibank ThankYou to get just over the 30,000 Elevate mark so I can get the 50,000 JetBlue points. My ThankYou points posted immediately, even though it said it could take up to 2 weeks to post (scary!). Still waiting for confirmation from JetBlue.

And what exactly did you send them? The home page when you log in to Elevate? If you ve just transferred points, that would show up in a big bubble on the home page, so it would be pretty obvious to JetBlue. Or did you send something else?
