Lots of brands are having fun trolling United these past few weeks, and from a PR standpoint, I must say that it’s working out very well for companies poking fun at United’s expense. Just look at the video Emirates released, showing the “friendly skies” who’s boss, as just one example.
The latest initiative to move in on United is a company who makes… leggings.
An activewear and lifestyle brand called Define Your Inspiration, which was named the next Lululemon by Forbes, is searching for the 2 girls who were kicked off the United Airlines flights for wearing leggings so they can gift them a pair.
While I didn’t bother to post about the silly United leggings ordeal myself, I did have fun with it on Instagram during a flight I took the next day:
As someone who loves fun leggings (and Lululemon) for my workouts, I was naturally intrigued in learning about DYI myself, and it looks like they do make some cute stuff!
I’d totally rock this:
So at the very least, I can say these PR stunts are working because I found myself browsing. I am also having fun passing around related, funny United-derived memes (often branded) to friends.
What are your thoughts about brands jumping at the opportunity to benefit from United’s bad month of PR? What others have you come across?
Were you turned away from an United flight because of your leggings? If so, DYI would like to give you a FREE pair of leggings! Visit https://www.shopdyi.com for more information or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
