Earn 500 Hilton HHonors Points by Listening to a Phone Sales Pitch

May 24, 2012 by Angelina Aucello 6 Comments

Kathy (Will Run for Miles) just posted about her experience calling Hilton to check on an existing reservation. After the call, she was asked if she wanted to be connected to a Hilton Vacation Club representative to listen to a sales pitch for 500 HHonors points.

After reading her post, I called Hilton at 1-800 445-8667 at asked to be transferred to the 500-point sales pitch to try it myself. My call lasted about 8 minutes and the representative tried to sell me a 3-night package at select Hilton locations (Las Vegas, Orlando, & Myrtle Beach) for $149 in exchange for a time share presentation. Although the offers were pretty tempting (the 3 night packages also included 15,000 bonus HHonors points and $200 Hilton credit to any Hilton resort), I had no intention of buying. I have never been to a timeshare presentation before, and frankly the whole timeshare idea in general intimidates me.

If you have 5-10 minutes on hand, can handle yourself in a high-pressure phone conversation, and are points hungry, you can go ahead and make the call yourself for 500 HHonors points. If those deals sound appealing to you, it might even make sense to go ahead and purchase the package if it fits into your travel plans! Do remember it is one phone call per HHonors household.

Keep me posted with your experiences!

I did it in January… still have not received my miles. I called and nobody knew anything about the promotion. Good luck if you get it!

Ditto! I did it in January as well and am still waiting. And as Jim has posted, when you call, no one knows anything about it.

Ew bummer… that’s no fun! I figured it was worth trying. I’m not counting on getting the points now based on both of your comments, if I get them, then great… oh well it didn’t hurt for me to try. Thanks for sharing!! :)

I just did this about a month and a half ago. After the points didn’t show waiting for about 3 weeks, I emailed customer service, told them the date of the call and asked when I should expect the points to post. Got a response immediately from Hilton apologizing and the points were posted.
