Up to $50 in Free Uber Credit for Free Car Service and Taxi Rides

September 6, 2012 by Angelina Aucello 7 Comments

Uber is a new app that allows you to get a taxi or car service on-demand right from your smartphone. The cool thing about this app is that you pay for your ride entirely with credits (including gratuity), so theres no need to worry about scrambling for cash at the end of your ride.

Right now there are two promotions worth taking advantage of: $25 in free credit and Uber’s NYC Taxi week (HT: TPG)

Here’s how to get up to to $25 in credits by joining:

If you don’t have an account already, sign up for Uber (that’s my referral link, feel free to post yours in the comments) to instantly receive $10 upon setting up your account. Then, enter promotion code DRESSFORSUCCESS to automatically receive another $15 in credit.

Here’s how Uber’s NYC taxi week works:

  • Free TAXI week will be available from now through Wednesday, September 12th.
  • At the end of your ride, the driver will have to input the meter fare into the driver application. The driver will most likely be happy because a 20% gratuity will be automatically added to the fare.
  • The free ride is valid up to $25. If the fare exceeds $25, the remainder will be charged to your credit card on file.
  • During Free TAXI Week, the TAXI option will only be available for one trip.- You must select TAXI icon in the app to get your free ride.
This is definitely a service I will put to use this weekend during my stay at the Westin Times Square (thanks to View From the Wing’s post about the $60 room rate). If I have a good experience, I might even consider using it for a ride to JFK or LGA in the future.
Has anyone used Uber before? If so, please share your experiences!
