SPG’s Bonus Beginnings Promotion is Back: Be sure to check to see if you were targeted for the next round of SPG’s bonus beginnings promotion! My account unfortunately was not eligible for the offer, but I was stoked to see that Kevin’s account was targeted with a choice of either a free night certificate valid at any category 1-5 property [!] or 3,000 bonus points after completing just one stay at any SPG property between now and October 31. Last time during this promotion he received an offer of 2,000 bonus points after completing a stay, which I thought was great. EWR-SJO: Craving some Costa Rica this fall/winter? I just impulsively booked a December weekend in San Jose, Costa Rica because of the ridiculously-cheap fare of $284 ai round-trip from Newark on United. There’s still plently of availability on select dates through early December, and the trip will earn you 4,402 – 5,904 EQM depending on if you’re flying non-stop or connecting. I also booked my stay at the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, San Jose, Costa Rica for just 9,000 Club Carlson points a night. Now that’s a great excuse for a mileage run, I mean, vacation!

A tip for anyone who is targeted. Make a stay on the last day of the promotion (typically it is last day of the month). Since the stay is counted when you check-in and not when you check-out. This way, you might again get another offer for next month for 1 more stay :)
