A fun post appeared in my Facebook newsfeed this morning from Accor Hotels. Accor hotels is running a promotion/Facebook game called the Discovery Tour whereby participants can play to win free points (who doesn’t love that?). Just for playing, you get 50 points per correct answer for 10 questions bringing you to a total of 500 free points per game. You can enter once per week for the duration of the promotion, enabling you to earn a total of 2,000 points by promotion’s end. If you’re not yet a member of Le Club Accor, the brand’s loyalty program, you may create an account here.
The game involves matching hotels to their respective places on the map. I’ll admit that it was a bit intensive for me (Mom & Dad, this is why I never qualified for the geography bee back in grade school), but with the help of Google on one or two of these, I passed with a 100% and have earned the full 500 points!
Because I’m nice, here’s a cheat sheet, shh…
I’m a winner, yay!
If you choose not to convert the points to airline miles, do know that 2,000 points is also good for $60 off a stay at their affiliated hotel brands, which is a pretty nice value in itself if you could use it (and worth more than the 1,000 airline miles).
Things to note (Update – thanks to commenter, Glenn):
- The minimum number of points you can convert seems to be 4,000, so you’ll have to come up with more points than this somehow to get your 1,000 airline miles.
- The airlines available via Accor are somewhat limited. The most obvious choices are Air Canada or British Airways. United, American, or Delta are not transfer options.

Thank goodness for Google, got all hotels correct :)

As discussed in MP, Accor transfers *very* generously to Iberia, and you can then use Combine My Avios to transfer to BA.
It’s a much better option than transferring to BA or Avios directly.

Hi Angelina! thanks for the post
Priority club as well as SPG will allow a couple to combine their points if the address on the accounts match.
i wonder if this is true for Accor as well? that would be an easy 4K points to get. hope your well.

Angelina- Thanks for the heads up!
@dj — Have you tried using a different type of internet browser? Perhaps that might help.
dj says
thanks Scott. very strange i tried ff, chrome, ie-none worked, saying “The fields indicated above in red are incorrect or required” while highlighting email field. i can login to le club just fine & verified the email is on le club account.

Are you sure re the 4000 conversion? You can set your conversion to air miles to automatic and my last conversion was for only 186 miles after a stay so I am sure it can be less than 4000.
Also, partners include Delta which is US based and BA Avios can be used on American short haul flights starting at 4500 points so with this promo you are halfway there!
Hope everyone cashes in. Thanks for the great blog.

Evans question is a good one – wonder how to find out? I’ve not had good luck in getting straight answers from Accor recently.

How quickly do the points post? Played the game, but I didn’t see the where it said I got 500 points. Tried to log in again and it said I already played the game.
M. says
T&C state it can take up to 3 weeks!

I’m having the same problem as DJ. It says my email is incorrect, but I can login to their website. I even changed my email, but still a no go! Darn!

@SOLTATIO
Why convert to BA Avios at such a low rate when Iberia Avios offers a much better rate? 2000 Accor points = 5000 Iberia Avios (which can then be converted into BA Avios at a 1:1).
