A Fun Secret Santa Opportunity For Travel Geeks

November 27, 2012 by Angelina Aucello 2 Comments

As I cozy-up in my apartment with the fireplace on and enjoy a glass of some festive apple cider wine while the snow falls outside, it’s hard for me not to creep into the holiday spirit. Ironically, as I was skimming through today’s FlyerTalk’s TalkMail e-newsletter, I stumbled upon an interesting thread about participating in a “Secret Santa” gift exchange with other fellow points/miles/travel enthusiasts.

How the FlyerTalk “Secret Santa” works is that an anonymous volunteer FlyerTalk member – unless you specifically request someone to be your “Secret Santa” – is responsible for giving you your holiday present with a gift worth a maximum of $50.00. In order to receive your gift, you yourself must be a “Secret Santa” for up to three other FlyerTalk members.

As a kid, I’ve always enjoyed Secret Santa arrangements because I loved the thought and challenge of picking out a great gift for someone totally random. The good thing about the FlyerTalk Secret Santa is that since we’re dealing with a group of seasoned-travelers, there are high chances of getting a gift in return that you actually could use and will enjoy!

If you’re interested in participating, you have until December 1, 2012 to submit your request. You can read all about the complete details/register in the official thread here. I think it’s going to be an awesome and exciting experience; I’ve already signed up to be a Secret Santa for 3 people (the maximum). I wonder who I’ll get paired up with!

Will you be participating as well?
