Brrr, it’s frigid here in NJ. I just got back from a warm and sunny weekend in San Diego (trip report on the way), and let’s just say that coming home to this cold weather is far from a treat! Anyway, here’s what’s happening in the points and miles world:
- Cheap EWR Parking: Deals We Like shares a great sale on Amazon Local where you can purchase parking at Newark Airport for $4 a day. Can’t get better than that!
- Up to 1,000 American Airlines miles: Million Mile Secrets writes that you can receive 100 free American Airlines miles just for signing-up to receive email notifications, 300 miles for any purchase through the AAdvantage shopping portal (yes, a $1 iTunes purchase counts), and 600 additional miles if you make a purchase of $100 or more. Not a bad gig. You can register for this promotion here.
- JetBlue 2-day Sale and Sweepstakes: JetBlue is having an appropriately-titled, two-day “cabin fever” sale from most major cities, and an instant-win sweepstakes where a total of 25 winners can enjoy a vacation in one of 5 destinations.
- Free Status Match to Air France’s Flying Blue Gold: Gary @ View from the Wing posted about a free status match to gold with Air France’s Flying Blue program. While I’m not exactly jumping for joy over this offer since I have never flown Delta or any Skyteam partners in the past, it’s always good to have “just in case”, and I hear reports that it’s a quick and painless process. Some Flying Blue Gold benefits include free checked bags and lounge access on international economy tickets. Here’s the direct link to the status match request page. If you don’t have a Flying Blue account yet, you can create one here. As a potential bonus, if you join by February 28, 2013, and use the promotional code CA12, 5,000 Award Miles will be added to your account if you take an Air France, KLM or SkyTeam flight by August 31, 2013.
- Free $10 in Mystery Gift cards with the “Gyft” App:Â Gyft is a digital gift card wallet that enables you to upload, send & redeem gift cards – perfect for some of us who churn gift cards for points. By simply downloading the free app, you’ll instantly receive two $5 gift cards in your account. My two gift cards weren’t too exceptional (sneakpeeq and Diamond Candles), but others have reported to receiving gift cards from Sephora, Gap, Target, etc. YMMV. I’m just most excited that I can empty out my physical wallet a bit and keep everything stored in one app.
- Free Expiring United Beverage Vouchers: I still have a ton of United beverage vouchers that are set to expire on 1/31/2013. I even tried to give them away to neighboring seat mates on last night’s flight, and I was looked at like I had two heads. I hate to see things go to waste, so if you have an upcoming flight in economy on United, and could relax with a wine, beer, or cocktail, send me an email or leave a comment, and I’d be happy to mail you a few!
What offers and promotions did you take part of this past weekend?

Seriously could have used those this Thursday. UA 895 ORD – SIN, starting from PHL, instead of EWR this time. Wanted to try for Hack My Trip’s GPU, but flying in S. Thanks for being so thoughtful.
