[Edit]: It appears that the free shipping code no longer works on clearance items. Somehow, I was able to check out with it and don’t know why.
I logged into my AmEx account today and noticed a new “my offers tab”. Upon checking said tab, I noticed that there was an option to load an offer for $10 back on any purchase of $10 or more at HSN.com from now until 2/28/13. The cool thing about this offer is that you can score free stuff, free shipping, and cash back or points.
Since I currently have 4 active AmEx cards, my first thought was that I’d be able to load the offer onto each of my cards, but it looks like once you add the offer to one of your cards, it disappears as an option for the rest.
Here’s how to take advantage of this offer:
- Log onto your AmEx account
- Click the “My Offers” tab, and hit “Get Offer” to load the spend $10 or more, get $10 back from HSN.com offer to each of your cards
- Go to evreward to see how many points or how much cash back you can get by shopping at HSN.com through one of the shopping portals. I personally find the best value to be 4 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per dollar or 6% cash back for shopping through MrRebates.com.
- There are plenty of items under $20 in HSN.com’s clearance section. There’s also a nice selection of items that are $10 flat; nothing jumped out at me, but I went with this throw blanket:

I went with the Candycane diffuser. By the way, the free shipping code does not apply to clearance items…
If an item is $9.95 and you pay $1.99 for the shipping, does that count as spending $10? Or does the item itself need to be $10?
