An Awesome Way to Take Advantage of The #AmexLandsEnd Offer

December 3, 2013 by Angelina Aucello 11 Comments

Wow there are loads of American Express sync promotions this month (and even more have been added today, I’ll work on a post about the others in a bit)!

A few days ago, I posted about an easy way to score $25 back on a $75 purchase or more at Amazon (yes, e-gift cards count), and now here’s another way to receive $25 back on a $100 purchase.

Until December 31, American Express is giving $25 back on a Land’s End purchase of $100 or more when you used your synced AmEx (I synced all 3 of my cards). If you’re like me, and have no immediate need to purchase goods from this retailer, an easy way to get “free money” through this deal is this:

  • First off, shop through your favorite cash back or shopping portal. I chose to use Mr. Rebates (yes, that’s my referral link, and you’ll get $5 for joining) where I would earn 4% back on my purchase ($4). TopCashBack also gives 4% back on Land’s End purchases.
  • Next purchase a physical giftcard of $100 from LandsEnd.com (e-gift cards will not work) using your synced American Express card(s) (one card per gift card/transaction).
  • Within minutes, I received an email from AmEx thanking me for using my enrolled card.

Now you’re probably wondering what to do what these Land’s End gift cards when they arrive…

Well the good news is this – Land’s Ends gift cards are accepted at Kmart and Sears, so you can essentially buy other retailer gift cards at your local Sears or Kmart (Amazon, Visa, Restaurants, etc) using them.

In the end, you’re getting a $25 statement credit + $4 back in rebates and you’ll be able to purchase gift cards you’ll actually use – sounds like a good plan to me!

Has anyone else done this or plan on doing this?

@Hilde: You can also add the offer via the “My Offers” tab when you’re logged into your account.

I actually suggest ggoing through ShopDiscover to get 10% cash back then if you are actually buying stuff to go throught ShopDiscover again for another 10% cash back. ShopDiscover won’t pay 10% on gift card redemptions at Lands End but they will for Kmart/Sears. Also, e-gift card should work since it’s being processed by Lands End LLC.

T&C says “Offer valid online only. Not valid on in-store purchases. Excludes gift cards, Lands’ End retail, outlet, and Lands’ End at Sears locations.” Have you received the 25 statement credit after buying gift card. Thanks.

I registered, but not sure whether to proceed as the term says gift card excluded.

@Mike @York, I’ve already received the Amex Sync $25 credit for buying all 10 of my gift cards. I used ShopDiscover since I’ve always gotten the cash back in the past without using a Discover card but of course, this time could be the first where I don’t get the cash back. If you prefer to play it safe, I tested one gift card purchase using Shop At Home, which was offering the highest cash back rate outside of ShopDiscover at the time of 9% (it’s decreased since)

Of course, the deal seems to have reached the max already but if you’ve already synced and just haven’t spent yet, you have until 12/31.
