Miles in a Minute: Free 1K Status Emails, PointBreaks, Car Service Credits, and More

TGIF! Too bad it’s too cold to do anything fun though. I need summer and a vacation ASAP. Well on a positive note – cabin fever only means one thing: let’s catch up on the latest in points, miles, and deals, shall we?

• Travel With Grant has a great post about how to share your Amazon Prime membership with up to 4 accounts – grab some friends and save! If you’re friendless, you can also “buy” a share of someone else’s Amazon Prime membership for about $25 a year from eBay. Not a bad idea!
• Don’t forget that D-Day (devaluation day) for United is quickly approaching on February 1. If you’re thinking of booking a premium-service partner award, get on it now.
• Speaking of United, don’t forget to check your inbox or junk mail – some lucky people are receiving a generous and free Premier 1K status trial, complete with free RPUs!
• The Virgin America Loft lounge at LAX is now a new Priority Pass lounge. I personally misplaced my physical Priority Club card, but all it took was quick 1-minute call to have a new one sent out (thank goodness).
• Rocketmiles (the hotel booking site that pays out airline miles for hotel bookings) is offering 3,000 bonus United miles on your first booking for new customers. This offer is valid until February 28, 2014, and you must complete the hotel stay by July 1, 2014.  It appears this stacks with the new member bonus of 1,000 miles that is available via my referral link.
• The complete list of the new IHG PointBreaks hotels is out, and they become bookable for just 5,000 IHG points  starting on Monday 1/27. Sorry to rain on the parade, but nothing particularly excites me on the list.
• Registration for Hilton’s “Weekend Rewards” promotion, that runs from February 1 through April 30, 2014, is now open. With this promotion, you can earn 1,000 HHonors Bonus Points for every night you stay at a participating Hilton hotel, and an additional 5,000 bonus points for every weekend stay of two or more nights.
• Lyft, a ride sharing app, is offering new members a $25 credit with promo code VZDGLQ (HT: Frugal Asian Man). Unfortunately, Lyft is not yet available in my area… and to be honest, I’m a sucker for Uber, but free credits never hurt!
• Speaking of Uber, the new member referral bonus offer has been extended until 1/31. What that means is that you and I will both receive $20 in free credit if you join using my referral link.
• Don’t forget to claim your 100 free Hyatt points – mine posted almost instantaneously!
