Reason #529 why I love traveling… I smell pretty… and it doesn’t cost me a penny. No really – in all seriousness, it just dawned upon me that I haven’t purchased a single bath and body product for my household in about 3 years thanks to frequent hotel stays and airline amenity kits. Here’s a peek at one of several bathroom drawers dedicated to my travel-sized goodies.
Of course… I am totally fair when it comes to distributing the products between Mr. Points Traveler and I… Products like these end up in my shower…
And Mr. Points Traveler ends up with my surplus of these…
Who else can relate?

I wish I could disagree. I can’t….. *looks at all the Hyatt stuff I have in the bathroom….*

We spend 30 nights a year in hotels. Not enough to supply the family but we have a nice basket of goodies in our guest bathroom for visitors.
JustSaying says
ok that’s taken care of but what about all those expensive cosmetics you have? What is your secret portal or does your hotel pass out Estee Lauder and Clinique?
KarenC says
Agreed…I even took a large box full to my sons house as I end up with wayyyyy too many products. I tire of countless tiny bottle all over the shower.
What’s up with united awards to maui? Going in August and while I booked it last yr 20,000 each way, nothing showing up and I have been checking for a few months.

really? who gives out Aesop?
Angelina says
@JustSaying: I wait for sales/promos/giftcards at Sephora for my makeup and usually shop through the Ultimate Rewards portal.
@KarenC: Really? The 20K awards should still be showing… try searching to HNL and manually add in the OGG segment? the new Hawaii rates kick in on Feb 1.
@Jon: Park Hyatt Tokyo gives out Aesop

I have enough of this crap to last me until I’m 120 years old! I wonder how long before it grows mold? :)

After about 1 1/2 years the product takes on a plasticky smell from the bottle that isn’t too nice. I dump all my small bottles into one larger one in the shower cuz I can’t stand all those small bottles in the shower.
KarenC says
No, tried it again, I log into my account, tried iah to hnl to ogg, tried iah to hnl thinking I would then use hawaiian miles to hop, trie several dates but need aug 8-31 , rooms booked already. . Nothing less than 40,000 each way has shown up…I search over an hour everyday with no luck. Tried using ANA sight to look for partner flights, no luck. Should I call , and do thy charge extra for phone reservations? At this point I’m getting desperate

The PeterThomasRoth is my favorite hair products. Wife always tells me it hair smells so good and anytime I stay at hotel with those products, I make it a point to maximum the number of those little bottles that I can! Is it wrong to take a few extra from the cleaners cart?!?!?
Jim says
@KarenC, it is because there are no saver level awards on United metal to Hawaii during your timeframe…

(Dis-)agree ;-)
I don’t travel enough but still have enough shampoo, almost enough lotion, and definitely enough soap bars.
However, I only rarely find shower gels in the places I stay at. So it is definitely not enough material for my shower.
I find it weird that many properties offer conditioner but only a few offer shower gel. Most of the time you need to bring your own.

Does it ever occur to you to donate the products to a women’s shelter or foodbank? Such items are greatly appreciated by people in need. I dropped off a box full of these hotel size items at a local homeless shelter last month. They will enjoy the items more than I ever would.
JustSaying says
Great idea Harold…..That’s exactly what FTU should be doing with all those First Class amenity kits instead of letting raffle guy drone on endlessly……
Naina says
+ 1 for Harold – I keep the stuff I really love and then donate the rest
Angelina says
@harold: I tried to donate to a few places by me but they denied me stating that they only accept products that are sealed.. (soap bars yes, shampoos and lotions, no.)
