Cheap Fare Alert: ~$400 from New York, Miami, or Los Angeles to Iguazu Falls

May 31, 2014 by Angelina Aucello 7 Comments

I just booked myself a nice Veteran’s Day weekend trip to Iguazu Falls for November due to an irresistible low fare! I do not expect this deal to last very long, and as of now it still is live.

This will be my third time traveling to South America for under $500. Last year, I traveled to Buenos Aires on a $300 mistake fare in April, and Rio de Janeiro for a similar price in September.

My good friend Sean reached out to me this morning to let me know that NYC – IGU fares are pricing out at an unusually low price… starting at $432 for many 2014 dates. Since this rate is most likely a mistake rate, I immediately got into “book now, think later” mode.

This deal also seems to work from MIA and LAX.

The fares are with LAN and appear on the Kayak.com search results. They bookable on CheapOair and WebJet.com. Note: CheapOair only has a 4-hour cancellation policy, and WebJet allows a 12-hour cancelation period. I personally chose to book mine at WebJet.

As far as mileage-earning potential, since LAN is a member of oneworld, you can earn valuable American Airlines AAdvantage miles. Here are some sample rates for November:

Although I prefer planning trips with very little notice, it was hard to resist this deal, so I am most-likely going to stick with it if stays honored (it even already ticketed).

Anyone else going to jump on this?

You can see more information about the deal in this thread on FlyerTalk.

Not gone, I just booked at Webjet. If it goes through a big smooch for Angelina.

Would love to Angelina, but already have too many planned this year. Off to Paris in 2 days for the French Open. Have fun on your trip!

Angelina, do you know the fare code of the booking? I was wondering how much American Airline mileage can be accrued with this discounted fare.

You should advise that the Webjet 12 hour cancellation period only applies if you purchase $14 insurance per ticket.
