Excellent Flat Bed Business Class Award Space to Europe

The bad news is that in my book, it’s too cold for me to travel to Europe anytime this year. And the even worse news is that I still have a pre-devaluation Lufthansa first class ticket (67,500 miles!) that I have “floating” in my reservations. The ticketing period expires in mid-December, so that means there’s a 98% chance I’ll be redepositing those miles (tear).

On the plus side, I am already thinking of a possible family trip to Europe sometime in late summer 2015. While I’ve been brainstorming possibilities, I’ve been spending time on the award search engines. I see that LOT Polish Airlines award space is searchable again on united.com after a few months of disappearing from the site. LOT Polish Airlines flies its 787 Dreamliners from New York (JFK), Chicago, and Toronto to Warsaw, and from there it has flights throughout Europe.

LOT flights throughout Europe, too many to count

Since I’m pretty much spoiled now, I’m intrigued by the LOT Business Class fantastic fully flat bed.

Here’s what fellow blogger Ben from One Mile at a Time said in his review: “After dinner I reclined into the fully flat position, which made for a comfortable bed. On the center console there’s a partition which ‘slides’ up, so that you have quite a bit of privacy. While there are other business class hard products that I prefer overall, it’s tough to beat these kinds of seats when you’re traveling with someone.”

LOT Polish award space between the United States and Europe is bookable for 30,000 United miles each way in economy and 70,000 miles each way in business class.

So far, award space is looking excellent in economy and business class for the Winter and Spring 2015 for two passengers. Award space is excellent in economy for two passengers next summer as well.

New York to Warsaw: 2 Passengers

Green days have space for two passengers in economy and business. Yellow days have space for two passengers in economy.

The best business class award space is available in April, May, and early June. This pattern repeats for all LOT routes in both directions.

Chicago to Warsaw: 2 Passengers

Toronto to Warsaw: 2 Passengers

Don’t forget about the Toronto to Warsaw route. If you live on the west coast especially, you might find Air Canada award space to Toronto and LOT space on to Europe. This would still cost only 30,000 miles in economy and 70,000 miles in business class.

Getting United Miles

Since the 50,000 bonus mile United Explorer card is no longer with us, right now the best cards to get United miles are the Ink Plus® Business Card (offering 50,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards after spending $5,000 in the first three months), and the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Visa Card (offering 40,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards after spending $3,000 in the first three months and another 5,000 Ultimate Rewards for adding an authorized user). Ultimate Rewards transfer 1:1 to United miles instantly.

For those who have flown, what are your thoughts on LOT Polish Airlines business class?

Thanks for the info. I just went online and changed my flights to get the Dreamliner ORD-WAW for November.
