I’m a pretty big fan of IHG’s loyalty program (especially now since the newly-annouced merger with Kimpton), and I recently blogged about why the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card smashes others out of the water.
To add icing to the cake, I got what looked like “junk mail” the other day. In fact, it was a nice gesture from IHG offering me 5,000 bonus points.
My first reaction was: “woohoo, free points!… and enough for a free night at a PointBreaks location!… how’s that for a generous surprise?!?”
Then I read that it was for an extra 5,000 points…. and then one by one these terms were unveiled:
…on my next stay.
…within 90 days
…weekend stay.
Yes, I always appreciate the opportunity to earn free points… but I won’t be going out of my way to make an IHG reservation… the real surprise will be if I end up having a real IHG stay that satisfies all of those terms, and I see a 5,000 point bonus in my account ;)
Either way – it’s nice to get some early birthday love! Anyone else get anything fun from their airline or hotel programs for their birthday?

Marriott gives 1 award night credit, not much, but that is one less night in a hotel to re qualify for status!

Given that IHG has gutted their program severely in the last year, you must be one of their only fans left!
