US Airways MasterCards Are Being Converted in June

April 1, 2015 by Angelina Aucello 2 Comments

Now that American Airlines and US Airways have combined programs, many of us were left wondering what would come of our existing co-branded airline credit cards. I personally have both the US Airways MasterCard and the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select card.

Today I received an email informing me that my US Airways Dividend Miles MasterCard is being replaced with a new card that is called the AAdvantage Aviator Red MasterCard, and that it will be arriving for me to use in June 2015.

The card benefits seem to be the same, but what’s really awesome is that they’ve added the 10% back on redeemed miles benefit (which is what kept me glued to the Platinum Select). More information can be found here.

Another cool thing is that card members have the ability to earn 50% more miles just by using the card between March 1 and June 30, 2015 (up to 10,000 bonus miles). To take advantage of that offer, you’ll have to register by logging into your account and clicking the banner on the right-hand side if you haven’t done so already.

What are your thoughts?

One not so cool thing is I lost my 2x on gas and groceries with the new card, which was great for MS-ing. Was raking up 10k miles per month for quite a while.
