I’m “Making Money” Left and Right with Paribus

November 6, 2015 by Angelina Aucello 11 Comments

I don’t know about you, but 95% of my shopping is done online, and I always go out of my way to find the best price, use cash back portals (like TopCashBack and Mr. Rebates), and stack promo codes, when available.

While I am well aware that many retailers offer price matches or refunds on price drops during a specified period of time, I’ve never been inspired to make the effort to file a claim for a few dollars here and there.

Luckily I learned about a new company, Paribus, that automates this process for you. Though a bit skeptical at first, I figured it was worth a shot to sign-up and see what it’s all about. a screenshot of a website

Here’s how Paribus works:

Paribus scans your email for recent purchases, tracks your purchases, and files claims on your behalf when there’s a price drop. As of now they only work with 18 merchants (Amazon is one), but considering that a very large chunk of my online shopping is done on Amazon, I feel like I hit a jack pot!

I’ve had my Paribus account for just a week and I’ve already pocketed $9.70 (in the form of Amazon gift cards) from 3 successful price-drop claims! Considering that I didn’t have to lift a finger, I call it “free money”, and it sure does add up.

Paribus will file your first claim for free, without taking a “commission”, and after that, they’ll take 25% of your refund. You chop 5% off of the “fee” for each person you refer, so if sign up with my link and it drops to 20%. Considering the fact that the refunds I get from Paribus are effortless, the fee is definitely worth it.

Have you used Paribus or something similar before?

I do a ton of Amazon purchasing but use my daughter’s account to take advantage of her Amazon Prime benefits. If she forwards the order confirmations to me, would Paribus be able to detect it and track it for price drops?

I believe so. It’s worth a try… have her forward them to you before connecting the account to Paribus to see if it detects it immediately when you sign up.

It is nice to get $ back, but that’s a lot of privacy to give up in exchange for the program. It’s one thing to let them read your email, but to allow them to permanently delete emails, change labels, etc. is too intrusive for me.

My thoughts as well. Perhaps if I had set up a burner email a while ago for online shopping but now it’s too late.

I am obsessed with cash back sights. Seriously, I don’t even go grocery shopping now without buying a girt card for it online that would give me cash back. I’m definitely gonna check Paribus out. Thanks for sharing.

Finally signed up for this… for those concerned about privacy – I set up a 2nd gmail address, and have it set up to auto fwd all e-mail to my primary. This way, I’m only giving Paribus access to my ‘shopping’ account.
