It’s been a very mild winter in the Northeast, so I can’t really complain too much about the icky winter like I’m known for on my twitter rants. I mean, we had a 70-degree Christmas for crying out loud!
However, this upcoming weekend seems to be promising ridiculous amounts of snowfall across several states, and it’s not looking pretty.Â
Just the thought of major cabin fever was enough for me to find a way to get away from it all. The great thing about Google Flights is that it almost makes it too easy to find a destination to escape to with its “explore destinations” feature.
Surprisingly, there are still so many decently-priced last-minute round trip tickets for this weekend. I personally jumped on a $355 fare from EWR-CUN, and we’ll stay a few nights at the new Hyatt Ziva Cancun with the kiddos.
Here are some other promising possibilities if you’re looking to escape the mess too:
From NYC:
- Dallas $127
- Orlando $295
- Belize City $303
- Cancun $355
From DC:
- Vegas $314
- Miami $227
- Orlando $207
From Boston:
- Miami $301
- Nassau $306
- Vegas $307
Who’s with me? Do you “plan ahead” when you know a big storm is coming?

I hope you’ll review the HY Ziva? I booked there in June using the 5th night free promo as well as a DSU. Reviews seem a bit mixed in these early days.
Bon voyage and stay warm!

Would love to get away, but 1) I have a Monday to Friday job and 2) am concerned about getting stranded with the kiddos given the possible travel cancellations.
