I thought about creating some click-bait type of headline along the lines of, “Ultimate Rewards devalue after September 1”, but that would just be so mean.According to this SlickDeals thread, beginning September 1, for purchases made using points on Amazon.com, you’ll have to spend 125 points instead of 100 for every dollar at checkout, and the points will be deducted at the time of your order instead of the ship date.
Here is the official notice from Chase:
We are making changes to the Chase Ultimate Rewards® Amazon Shop with Points program.
• Beginning September 1, the Amazon.com redemption value for $1 is changing from 100 points to 125 points.
• Your points will no longer be deducted when your purchase ships; they will be debited at the time your order is placed.
These changes do not impact your other Chase Ultimate Rewards redemption options including cash back, gift cards, travel and more.
Of course, readers of the blog know there are MUCH better ways to use our Ultimate Rewards points, but let this serve as a reminder that programs always devalue one way or another, and that it’s important to continuously be on the lookout for new “fine print”.
In the meantime, be sure to earn & burn!

This may be off topic but of general interest to parents of young children. For the latest on “Unaccompanied Minor” travel read Friday’s (07/22) Summer Hull’s “Mommy Points” blog detailing her 6 year old daughter Cate’s experiences. I don’t often refer to other blogs but I’ve never saw it discussed here. Lots of current and valuable info –—

Rich, why do you insist on posting everywhere with her daughter’s name when Summer has asked you not to? I don’t get why you have it out for her?

I never use my valuable Chase points on Amazon although I’m a frequent customer. Use the card to earn Ultimate Reward points for travel – this site and others exist to help us travel, not become zombie shoppers on Amazon. Let’s go places.
