I feel like I hit the jackpot! JetBlue is currently having a 25% off award sale for fall travel.Since I recently enrolled my family in the PointsMatch promotion for each of us to earn 75,000 TrueBlue points after taking one roundtrip flight before August 31 (yay for cheap EWR-BOS flights), we have a boatload of points in our family pool.
One thing I absolutely love about JetBlue is their Mint Class. It is without a doubt the best “domestic” first class product out there (even though they now fly Mint-equipped planes on international routes, like Aruba). I recently had a chance to experience Mint from Los Angles to New York and really was impressed!Every year, we head to Aruba in the middle of the fall for a family getaway – just when it’s starting to get cold here in the northeast. Since the dates we like to go fell within the 25% off award sale, I was curious to see what the prices looked like for Mint class from New York to Aruba (because Saturday bookings qualify for 25% off).
JetBlue just recently started flying aircraft equipped with Mint Class seasonally with Saturday service, so I took that into consideration when searching for flights. The base price for JetBlue Mint Class between JFK and AUA has been in the $449-$599 range each way, but demand has been off the charts, with flights averaging in the $1300 range.
When I saw there were over 4 empty seats on a Saturday JFK-AUA flight on the exact date I needed for only 23,000-ish points each, I was in disbelief! Especially since other flights that day were pricing as much as 96,000 points each way (even with the 25% off sale). I value JetBlue points at 1.4 cents each, so with the 25% off sale, it was like getting a Mint Class seat to Aruba for under $325 each! I did not hesitate to book.
Since we are only staying in Aruba for 4 nights, we couldn’t fly Mint Class home, but our economy award only cost us 8,400 points each (~$117), which is still a steal for AUA-JFK!
What’s even better is that I get 10% back on redeemed awards with my awesome JetBlue Plus Card, meaning I’ll be getting 9,630 points back just for being a card member! I personally think the JetBlue Plus Card is my favorite airline credit card at the moment (more details on why this card is so awesome), especially since there are so many lucrative promotions and sales. I even saw flights from New York to Bermuda for under 3,000 points each way!
Overall, I am so stoked that we scored such great flights during this award sale. What have you booked with JetBlue during this sale?

Wow !! I wish I hadn’t booked my trip so early. Flying Mint to Aruba would have been a great intro to Mint. Glad you get for such an incredible deal :) I will be there just before you. Any recommendations on restaurants ? We are at Hilton on points as I am saving my Hyatt points for the Zilara/Ziva Cancun.
Love your blog :)
