I Just Applied For the New 80,000 Point Chase Ink Preferred

November 15, 2016 by Angelina Aucello 7 Comments

[Update]: After calling the reconsideration line, I was denied cold turkey because of 5/24.

Yesterday, we saw the disappearance of the legendary Chase Ink Plus cards, and today applications for the new Chase business product are live.

I just submitted my application for the brand new Chase Ink Preferred that comes with an 80,000 point sign-up bonus after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.

As expected, my application is still pending, because I have quite a bit of Chase personal and business cards already.

Aside from the generously-high 80,000 point sign-up bonus, the card earns 3x on:

  • Travel
  • Shipping purchases
  • Internet, cable and phone services
  • Advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines

I’m most excited about the 3x on travel and advertising purchases because it’s relevant to my personal spending habits.

Chase has been pretty strict about enforcing 5/24 rule (I’ve exhausted all options in getting a Chase Sapphire Reserve, but I got lucky with the Chase Freedom Unlimited), and rumors seem to steer towards the fact that the Ink Preferred card will also be subject to 5/24, even as a business card product.

I do plan on calling the reconsideration line as soon as it opens so I can learn the fate of my application ASAP.

What are your thoughts? Do you plan on applying too?

Nope, because it definitely falls under 5/24. I will whenever I’m under 5/24.

I also was denied the CSR. I have however helped my dad get on board, right before the 2016 year closes for the travel credit. I am going to try to give it a break, I actually added myself as an authorized user on my fathers account at first then quickly removed it, hoping it wont count as an inquiry or another line opened and closed. Some of the factors that affected my recent equity line request were, too many lines of credit opened recently, not enough income, haha! Im a teacher, and, length of history, same went for my denial of the CSR. Ill be looking forward to hearing what happens with the Ink Bus. Thanks!

I was denied when I applied for the CSR on line, as I’m over 5/24. To my surprise, I was then approved when I applied at a branch. I plan on applying for the new Ink card in a branch. Fingers crossed!
