Are Lingus has previously announced that they’ll be joining oneworld and a rebrand of their loyalty program (which had been previously been delayed a few times). It looks like the launch of AerClub is really going to happen now on January 7!
I received this in my inbox this morning:
As you previously expressed an interest in joining AerClub, the new loyalty programme of Aer Lingus, we’re now delighted to be giving you the opportunity to sign up to the programme in advance of its official launch. This brand new programme is all about rewarding and recognising loyalty, in the air, on the ground, and online. Sign up before January 7th 2017, and as a welcome to AerClub, you’ll receive 250 bonus Avios points to start you on your way to travel rewards.
Signing up for AerClub takes only 5 minutes and you have the option to link your new account with an existing Avios account (not be confused with British Airways or Iberia Avios). Now with Aer Lingus, there are four Avios “currencies”. Â You can only link an “Avios” account.
I ended up selecting the option to create a new Avios account. I would imagine that the 250 bonus Avios could be moved interchangeably between Avios accounts now or sometime in the future.
It’s also worth noting that my 250 points in my newly-generated Avios account did not post instantly. No idea when I should see them (if ever) either, ha!

You need an Avios.com account to link NOT a British Airways or Iberia account – hence the error messages.

Ah thanks for the clarification
Aviosman says
You received an error message because Avios is not British Airways, nor Iberia; it’s a completely separate account. At the time, there were three separate “Avios” currencies: Avios, British Airways Avios, and Iberia Avios. Now, with Aer Lingus, there are four.
Angelina Aucello says
Ah makes sense! I’ll update accordingly

I am so annoyed at the way aerlingus have launched their new loyalty program #aerclub their staff have barefaced lied about how it would operate. I have always found Aerlingus staff to be so friendly and helpful but when it comes to their new loyalty scheme it’s a complete disaster and they are treating loyal customers like idiots. The new loyalty scheme (if that’s what they call it) is damaging the Aerlingus good brand.

Scam! This is a scam no 250 posted to my account after signing up. I made every attempt to contact them, no reply and no acknowledgement, Twitter, Facebook, email. Dissapointed
