Yesterday, I received a promotional email from the new DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West announcing a partnership with hit Broadway show Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. While I have never stayed at or visited the property before, it’s brand new (opened earlier this year) and looks very nice!
I live in the proximity of NYC, so I never really check room rates, but I do know they rates are generally steep during peak summer months. Still, I ended up clicking the email for an entirely different reason – because I was curious about the show tickets. Ironically enough, I was in the process of buying show tickets for next week as a gift for my brother’s birthday.
I ultimately decided on buying tickets to ‘A Bronx Tale’, and unfortunately, The Charlie & the Chocolate Factory rate at the Double Tree Times Square West, does not include show tickets but can still be a good deal for those looking for a broadway show package (offer includes an exclusive Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Broadway Tie-In edition book with a special foreword written by Broadway director Jack O’Brien, and a 20% discount to Dylan’s Candy Bar).
Shows aside, what really surprised me was how reasonable the room rates were in the heart of the summer at this new property that’s in the heart New York’s famed Theater district!
Once I saw how surprisingly-low the special Charlie & the Chocolate Factory rate was, I was inspired to check other rates too at the property too using the “flexible dates” option. There were several nights available for $116 (prepaid, or $155 under the Honors discount), even on July 4th weekend!
If you have Diamond status, you can sweeten the deal and can enjoy perks such as free breakfast, bonus points, and a possible suite upgrade.
I clearly have no use for such fantastic NYC hotel rates, but I figured I’d pass it along in case your summer plans include broadway shows or NYC.
Happy Travels!

Angelina, agreed that this is a great set of rates, but this hotel is AWFUL! perhaps the worst in Hilton’s NYC portfolio. STAY AWAY! I speak from personal and collective experience:
-it’s ranked #393 of 468 hotels on Tripadvisor. ’nuff said.
-I stayed about a month ago as a Diamond member. The lobby and the breakfast area are very pretty, but WAYYY too small for this hotel’s size. there are 2 elevators that are chronically backed-up to the point of the setup being simply dangerous. the rooms are TINY (smallest Hilton room i’ve ever used) and are completely unfurnished save for a tiny, junky set of drawers that almost tipped over on me. the carpet in my room was FILTHY when i got in. the Bathoom had no decor and no shelves, meaning it felt like a hospital-room bathroom. it’s non-tub shower that had a cheap plastic curtain. there are NO SUITES, so you won’t be getting a better room. my fiancee called this a Motel 6 in the sky.
listen, you can’t beat the rate, but know what you’re in for. about the only thing i enjoyed was the breakfast buffet, everything else was downright depressing.
