I’ve previously written many posts about Uber and tipping, including some shameful tip hustling-schemes I’ve encountered on some of my own rides, and  my observations about the correlation between a rider’s Uber rating and tipping.
in July, Uber finally added an in-app tipping feature, which now allows riders to add a tip to their trip at the end of the ride. Riders can choose to add a $1, $2, or $5 tip, or add a custom tip amount. I’m curious how this new feature will evolve Uber in the long-run. Uber previously celebrated the launch by matching tips on all rides taken on July 18, 2017.
Today, Uber’s not only matching your tips for rides, but for UberEATS deliveries, too. While it’s always your choice, tipping is a way to give thanks for service that goes the extra mile. And don’t worry–drivers and delivery partners must rate your ride or delivery before they can see any tips.
Nevertheless, if you’re feeling extra generous today, your tip to your driver will be doubled, and I’d imagine a lot of friendly-service on the roads today.
What are your thoughts about Uber adding an in-app tipping feature? Does it change the way you currently [or do not] tip? Feel free to share your thoughts!
