Drunk Guy Loses His ID and Gets ‘Booked’ on an Etihad First Class Flight

November 10, 2017 by Angelina Aucello 1 Comment

This morning, my dad sent me this priceless PR stunt story that won the internet over a few days ago. Imagine losing your ID while drunk and finding out that someone had done you the favor of booking a paid-first class flight (specifically, an Etihad First Class Apartment) to the Maldives on your behalf?

Thats exactly what happened to Twitter user @willarmstrong__ after a night of partying and losing his driver’s license in the process. A few days later, a detailed first-class itinerary (and an invoice of $6,947 arrives in the mail).

Naturally, the young man went into freak-out mode, before realizing it was all a nifty joke.

“George, we’re just kidding. We’ve found you’re driving license (enclosed) outside our shop and thought you might need it,â€, read the note in the back of letter. His license was returned, and George paid a visit to Steve (the travel agent behind the whole prank) the next day for a fun photo opp together.

PR stunt or not, let us all appreciate a story with a happy ending and remind ourselves that having a sense of humor still is a great way to brighten a day.

On a related note, I recently came across this remarkable story of a returned license:

Someone found my wallet snorkeling in the ocean in Thailand – I had dropped it earlier that day on the beach without realising!

They called Amex, who called me and I met with him and his wife that night to collect it and we ended up sharing a few drinks and having a very nice evening!
