I recently learned about Acorns and this fantastic referral program from fellow blogger, Deals We Like (yes, I used her referral). There are a couple of days left to get in on a great deal to earn $1060 by referring 12 friends.
Joining Acorns is easy, but keep in mind that you’ll need to provide you SSN since you are opening up an investment account. You’ll also have to securely link your bank account.
To take part in the referral promotion for the $1,000 bonus, you’ll have to sign up, then pass along your referral link to 12 friends and get them to invest a minimum of $5 for 30 days and you should qualify for the bonus.
In addition to the $1,000, you’ll also receive the standard $5 for each friends who joins and deposits $5 for a total of $1,060.

While I do invest in other ways, Acorns seemed intriguing to me because it allows you to “micro-invest” small amounts, even spare change. This is a great way to get your toes wet in investing, without having to make a massive financial commitment.
I just joined myself, so I haven’t had a chance to truly utilize Acorns yet, but the app seems extremely easy to use.
The only caveat is that you can’t pick your own individual investments, but there are several ways to invest.
You can set up small recurring transfers, “round up” your spare change on purchases, and there’s even a “Found Money” option that works similar to an online cash back portal, skimming previous transactions from your linked account and automatically investing in your Acorns account just by naturally shopping at some of the participating partners.
Keep in mind that there are nominal fees (though earning the $1,000 by referring friends certainly will offset it):
- $1 per month if you invest under $5,000
- 0.25%Â if you invest over $5,000
- $0 fees if you’re under 24 or are attending college with a .edu email address
Bottom Line
Overall, this is an easy way to earn an extra $1,000 if you can refer friends over the next couple of days. Keep in mind that the $1,000 bonus will be paid out in shares (which you can withdrawal into cash).
