Successful Status Match from M Life Gold to Total Rewards Diamond

May 14, 2018 by Angelina Aucello 29 Comments

I spent this past weekend in Atlantic City, one of my guilty pleasures, because I had an offer for two free nights at the Borgata, which is now part of M Life.

If you have Hyatt Explorist or Globalist status, you can instantly status match to M Life Gold, which came in handy for me in many ways this weekend.

Not too long ago, I blogged about a way to get a free night at the brand new Hard Rock Atlantic City that’s opening this summer. M Life Gold and Total Rewards Diamond members are entitled to one free night (no restrictions).

I’m also extremely excited about the grand re-opening of the former Revel, which will be renamed as the Ocean Resort, a Hyatt Unbound collection hotel. I hope there will be tier-matching and complimentary free night opportunities at this new property, too.

After following this Reddit thread that discusses an instant status match offer from M Life Gold or higher into Total Rewards Diamond status that seems to be working in Atlantic City, I decided to take a ride over to Harrah’s casino to get matched.

I was able to get instantly matched in minutes by visiting the Total Rewards desk, showing my valid M Life tier card, and verifying that I hadn’t taken advantage of a status match previously.

Included with my match was a complimentary night room voucher valid at Total Rewards properties.

Some benefits of Total Rewards Diamond status I’m especially excited about include:

  • Tier Status match with Wyndham Rewards (Diamond)
  • Complimentary stay at Atlantis, Paradise Island in The Bahamas
  • Free and/or discounted hotel stays
  • No resort fees on any hotel stay
  • $100 Celebration Dinner
  • Two Free Show Tickets Per Calendar Month in Vegas
  • No Parking Fees
  • Paid access to Diamond Lounges

Bottom Line

I’m glad I took a ride over to Harrah’s during my stay to match my M Life Gold to Total Rewards Diamond. Having another top-tier status in another program is good leverage for others, and the benefits are generous and worthwhile.

Being able to save on hefty resort fees in Vegas or other casino properties is HUGE and gaining top-tier reciprocal Diamond status with Wyndham Rewards is a nice perk as well.

If you’re into miles and points and want to get your toes wet in casino loyalty (or vice versa) for more deals and strategies like this, there’s still time to come join me in Vegas in a couple of weeks at ZorkFest.

ZorkFest 2018 Las Vegas takes place at TI, Treasure Island Las Vegas May 25th to 27th, 2018. The weekend starts with a cocktail reception on Friday evening May 25th at 6pm. All conference sessions start on Saturday.

Not only will ZorkFest be a fun weekend filled with mingling and socializing with like-minded travelers, it’s a one-day conference featuring travel and casino loyalty sessions. You can use code zorkangelina for an additional $10 off registration.

Have you taken advantage of the in-person Total Rewards status match?

Thanks for the update! So if you’ve status matched in the past, you won’t be able to do it again? Wasn’t sure if that’s what you meant.

So if we status matched to TR Diamond from the Hyatt Diamond-> MLife Diamond two years ago, we can’t do it again? It would be too bad if we couldn’t. The celebration dinner was nice :)

Worth trying. Usually goes by address. So if anything, maybe make a new account for her?

Total Rewards Diamond members are only supposed to get one night at Hard Rock according to the chart they published, but I have heard of people using their Diamond status to get two nights.

Yes you are correct. The chart says one night but I’ve also heard of others receiving two. YMMV. I’ll update the post to reflect this. Thanks for bringing to my attention!

How did you get a free night upon receiving your Diamond status? I am Diamond per the Founders card but I didnt receive a free night at any Total Rewards hotel?

Hi Frank, it came as a surprise – the TR attendant printed the voucher in person and gave it to me along with the brochure explaining the benefits

I am in the same boat. Caesars Diamond through Founders Card, but was not offered the free night at any Total Rewards hotel. A Total Rewards representative even mentioned the offer to me at Caesars Atlantic City, asking me if I had used it yet and I said no, then he back-tracked once he realized he had said too much.

I made the same trip this weekend. I was hoping to match my fiancé who lives with me to mgm gold and get her diamond as well but was told Borgata isn’t fully folded in to mlife yet and they are not authorized to match her yet. : (

Aw bummer! Can you try matching her Hyatt status to M Life? That’s instant and then maybe you can go back and match to TR Diamond on your next trip.

A tip for you. If you live together, you two just go visit any Mlife Rewards desk to present valid government issued photo ID to link your accounts together to share tier level. Once your fiancé’s account is linked to yours, her account is upgraded to Mlife Gold as well.

I’m not sure. But I’d act on this sooner than later. Vegas TR properties aren’t honoring it as far as I know.

Thank you for the post… If Vegas does begin to honor the match from MGM Gold to TR Diamond, can you please share a new post? I will be in Vegas for a work convention in June and this would be a nice perk to add to the portfolio! :)

Hi. I am in Vegas now. Did you manage to try status match Mlife Gold to TR Diamond in Vegas successfully? Both me and my husband has Mlife Gold. Should I just do one for this year and save the other for next year since some ppl say is only one match per lifetime?

Are you sure, that I can match from Mlife Gold Status to TR Diamond?
I mean TR does only match only the Mlife Platinum Status?

    Thanks

Was able to match my mlife gold Borgata AC to TR Diamond at Harrah’s AC. Instead of a $100 dining voucher, I was given a 2 night comp stay at any AC TR resort from Sun to Thurs. Was told the dining voucher would come in the mail.
Also, after booking a Hard Rock comp night w my TR Diamond status, called to confirm reservation and was told I may qualify for a second night upon check in as well. Thank you Angelina for all the great tips!

So this is still going on with matching from gold status? I just want to make sure they did not change it before I plan my trip there.

I just returned from four free nights at Atlantis Bahamas. I status matched from Hilton Diamond to Wyndham Diamond to Total Rewards Diamond. The property did not advise me of any Diamond lounges, and I had to pay the $55.95/night Resort Fee + a $5/night housekeeping fee.
