World of Hyatt has been pretty generous with brand-specific promotions this year, and seems to be continuously listening to the feedback of its members. There have been several positive program improvements over the last year (my favorite being that award nights now count towards status nights).
Starting today, World of Hyatt just announced a new promotion to earn bonus points and news about the validity of elite awards.
New Promotion: Earn 2,500 Bonus Points
Starting today, World of Hyatt members can earn 2,500 bonus points after every five qualifying nights at Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency hotels, with a checkout date of August 31, 2018.
Registration is required by July 15, 2018 in order for qualifying nights to count toward earning bonus points during the promotion period. There is no limit to the number of bonus points members can earn.
Extended Validity of Elite Awards
World of Hyatt is extending the validity period for both suite upgrade awards as well as Club Lounge access awards.
For 2018 and beyond these awards will be valid through the member’s tier expiration date at the time they are earned, as opposed to 365 days. This means members’ awards earned in 2018 will expire February 29, 2020.
Members will be able to see the extended expiration period on their 2018 awards reflected in their World of Hyatt account as of today, June 1.
What this means for Lifetime Globalists
For Lifetime Globalist status, members will receive four suite upgrade awards valid through the remainder of that year plus 14 months.
Annually, Lifetime Globalists will receive four suite upgrade awards on or around March 1 valid for the remainder of that year plus 14 months.
In addition, Lifetime Globalists who stay 60 qualifying nights or earn 100,000 Base Points in a calendar year will receive four additional suite upgrade awards that are valid for the remainder of the year they are earned plus 14 months.
Bottom Line
It’s refreshing to see positive news from Hyatt this morning, including a way to earn extra bonus points after 5 nights at a Hyatt Regency or Grand Hyatt property.

The World of Hyatt promo is ‘meh’ because it’s 500 bonus points per night, BUT only in increments of five nights. I rarely stay more than 3-4 nights at the same property. However, the extension of expiration dates is GREAT since I’m an Explorist and those Club Awards are awesome and now I have more time to use them. Woo-hoo!
