Those who follow my blog regularly know I love a good status match! Southwest currently has a 90-day status challenge/match offer to their top-tier A-List status just by sending an email and providing proof of your current elite status with another airline.
There’s an opportunity  to extend the status for another 12 months by booking and flying three round trip flights (or six one-ways) within 90 days of enrollment.
Some of my favorite benefits of A-List status is priority boarding and free same-day standby.
All you have to do is send an email to southwest.statusmatch@wnco.com and provide your:
- First name
- Last name
- Rapid Rewards® number
- Screenshot of current elite status with a U.S. based carrier, other than Southwest Airlines
I sent my email including a screenshot of my JetBlue Mosaic status a few days ago, and received an email back yesterday confirming that I was matched:
Dear Angelina,
Congratulations! You entered our exclusive Southwest status match promotion, and have now officially qualified to earn promotional Rapid Rewards® A-List for 90 days from today.
Extend your new A-List status for 12 months by booking and flying three round trip flights (or six one-ways) within 90 days of today. Please note that any previously booked reservations will not qualify towards the promotion.
We look forward to welcoming you onboard soon!
Bottom Line
Even though I don’t have any immediate Southwest plans in the pipeline, it never hurts to status match when the opportunity arises.
Southwest often has great fare deals and fantastic redemption opportunities that are fully refundable up until 10 minutes before departure. It’s hard to beat that!
Who else has successfully status matched to A-List with this offer?

I’m assuming United Gold is too low?
Angelina Aucello says
Hi Kate, I just read the t&c and it doesn’t say anything about what status level is acceptable on an airline so it’s worth a shot! Good luck!

I had a successful match from UA Silver

I just got status match for “elite” status on Spirit, so clearly they take anything.

Wow thanks for a great data point! That’s awesome :)

when does this promotion expire? I don’t have any Southwest flights scheduled (or any flights!) for the next couple months, so I’d like to delay applying for the match as much as possible to increase the chances of getting 6 one-ways under my belt for that extension. Any ideas on how long I have?
Angelina Aucello says
Hi Sam, like you, I have no plans to fly 6 one ways during the next 90 days but since this seems to be a generous match, I don’t see it lasting very long so I got in right away.

I’m out of the country till October and emailed my status request explaining I’d be away and requesting match to bring November 1. Received this email back:
Thank you for your interest in the Southwest status match promotion, and for allowing us to address your inquiry.
We are unable to change your eligibility dates of the status match promotion. As per the terms and conditions of the promotion, we only recognize flights booked and flown within the eligibility period.
We look forward to the opportunity to share the skies with you soon.

Thank you for this data point and bummer that they won’t let you start the challenge in the fall :( hope you are loving Vancouver- I need to visit you guys again! :)

We are waiting for you!

Angelina- Does your SWA profile have you listed as A-List? I applied for this same promotion, was accepted in minutes. Although my elite status says regular member (Not A-List). After five communications with SWA, they tell me I must fly 3 RTs or 6 OWs to get A-List.
Per their T&C- If you qualify for promotional A-List status, during the promotional period, you will not receive an A-List card, but you will receive all A-List status benefits on all flights booked after qualifying for this A-List status match promotion, when you provide your Rapid Rewards account number when making your reservation.
I would consider this more of a challenge than a status match, a little deceptive on SWA’s part. As every other status-match provides instant status.
Angelina Aucello says
Hi Barry, thanks for stopping by. You had me worried with your comment, so I did just log in to my account and I do indeed see that I am listed as A-List. When did you request the match? Do you think Southwest changed the terms of the promotion?
