JetBlue Improves Points Pooling + Temporarily Removes Badges

Yesterday, JetBlue announced a great promotion where you can save 20% on select award redemptions.

Today, JetBlue is rolling out some enhancements to the TrueBlue digital experience. In addition to having a a new design interface, and the new TrueBlue portal being easier to navigate on all devices, there are some significant changes to note:

Improvements to Family Pooling

One of the things I’ve always loved about JetBlue was the ability to pool points together. Previously, a family pool was limited to two adults and up to five children in a household.

Family Pooling is now becoming “Points Pooling”—a more flexible and user-friendly way to pool points. In Points Pooling, your pool can be made up of 2 to 7 members of all ages, family or not!

Unlike the previous Family Pooling feature, which allowed the option for each member to contribute a set percentage, members will now only have the option to contribute 100% of their points to the pool. Members can redeem or leave the pool with their unused points whenever they choose.

In the new Points Pooling, the Pool Leader (must be 21 years of age or older), formerly called the Head of Household, will be able to give other members in the pool privileges to redeem points from the entire pooled balance.

With this update, TrueBlue Badges will also be going on a temporary hiatus as JetBlue is planning to enhance this experience as well and bring them back in the coming months. I always thought TrueBlue Badges were a fun and easy way to earn extra points. Luckily, when they return, TrueBlue members will find that all of their badges will still be there.

Bottom Line

Overall, I think the changes to the Points Pooling are positive, especially since you are now allowed to designate up to 7 people of your choosing rather than be limited to 2 adults and up to 5 children. As far as the TrueBlue Badges, maybe we don’t need 400 of them to return, but I hope they still give us the ability to earn extra points via challenges, maybe even targeted ones like United’s MilePlay.

What are your thoughts about the changes to the JetBlue experience?
