United introduced “Mile Playâ€, a new way to earn miles with United MileagePlus® back in 2017, and the promotion appears frequently from the time to time.
As I was browsing my United app, it looks like the offer is back again for targeted accounts, allowing select members to earn bonus miles by completing tasks between now and August 4, 2019.
As you can imagine, the offers vary greatly, ranging from just a few thousand bonus miles to the potential to accumulate massive amounts by flying.
Keep in mind that you’ll have to first register for the promotion, and only airfare purchased after the time you register will count towards the promotion. You can check to see if your account was targeted and register here.
My offer allows me to earn a total of 3,000 bonus miles if I book and take 4 trips ($250 minimum fare).
I checked eligibility for everyone in my household, and my son got a better offer than I did (4,000 bonus miles after taking 2 trips from EWR at a minimum of $200 each).
Bottom Line
While my offer is way weaker than what I’ve received the past, it’s still a nice way to earn bonus miles on flights I probably will end up taking over the next few weeks. I certainly will not be going out of my way though.

I just recently received 2,900 bonus miles for taking just 1 trip by May 15. I’ve booked my (2nd) RTW trip, finished burning my miles, and I’m now officially out of the miles game. Their doing away with the award chart finished it for me. Now, aside from UR and Thank You points, I’ll be getting 3% cash back on all travel.
Book 3 premium flights of $500 or more by August 4th and receive 33,00 bonus miles. Already had two booked.
