Iberia just announced a promotion offering 50 routes at 40% off. I got excited when I received this email because I am currently planning a trip during the promotional period, and I thought I would be able to take advantage of the discount.
All I will say is that you’re in luck if you’re based in Madrid (or if you’re planning to travel to Madrid).
In order to take advantage of the 40% savings, you’ll have to book your flight between today through February 29th for travel between March 16 through June 19. The other good news is that the fuel surcharges are very low or non-existent on these awards, so there can definitely be some pretty valuable redemptions.
Iberia Plus Avios is a different program than British Airways Avios, but they can easily be moved from one to the other. You can learn all about both programs and when to use each one in this post here.
I’m bummed that none of the routes on sale benefit me at the moment, but I sure hope others find great value in this promotion!

I am flying with Avios from Madrid to Rio for the Olympics, but that’s already booked and outside the date frame offered here. With the sad devaluation of BA Avios for US domestic flights, it’s good to keep a sharp eye out for good deals internationally offered in either Avios program.
