Targeted SPG Bonus Beginnings Promotion for 2,000 Starpoints

July 13, 2012 by Angelina Aucello 16 Comments

There seeems to be a targeted “Bonus Beginnings” promotion offering new Starwood Preferred Guests members the option of receiving either a $25 SPG Award Certificate or 2,000 bonus Starpoints after staying one night at any Starwood property.

Though neither Kevin and I are new members, I was able to successfully register Kevin’s account for this promotion, but not mine, so YMMV. Overall, this is a pretty generous promotion if you have an upcoming SPG stay coming up. I chose the 2,000 bonus points option because I value them at around $70. You may check your eligibility and register for this promotion here.

Thanks for sharing! I didn’t get an email, but tried it out and was eligible :) My offers were different than yours, to the point where I may actually do this (I’m not an SPG fan otherwise). I was offered a free night at Cat 1-5 (expire 8/31/2013) or 3,000 points.

I also got the free night offer and took advantage on a $60 aloft stay. Much more lucrative than 2,0000 points.

I definitely got a couple of emails about it. Looking back at the emails:

I got one on Apr. 16 that offered me 4,000 points or a $50 certificate if I registered by April 30 and stayed one night between March 1 and April 30. I did not register for that offer.

I next received an offer on May 17 that offered me 5,000 points or a free night at a category 1-6 hotel or resort if I registered by June 30 and had a stay between May 1, 2012 and June 30, 2012. A category 6 being much more than 5,000 points, I registered for the offer and received the night.

If it helps, I am SPG Gold through Amex Platinum, but have never had a stay on my account.

I recently stayed on the promo of 4000 first move bonus points and received the bonus points in a week. I again see a 5000 first mover bonus email on my email account. Can I register again for 5k bonus?

I also got a targeted offer for the following:

Here’s a great offer to get things going: Register by August 31, 2012, then complete a stay between July 1, 2012, and August 31, 2012, and you’ll receive your choice of 3,000 bonus Starpoints or a Free Night Award at a Category 1–5 hotel or resort.

I haven’t stayed at a Starwood properties for a while so maybe that’s why I got targeted? My husband tried to register and he was not eligible – probably because he has had recent stays with Starwood.

I chose the free night option of course :)

FYI, I was targeted for $50/4,000 points. It appears to vary by account.
