When New Girl in the Air first posted about an opportunity to earn 1,000 free airline miles by enrolling your Visa card in ThanksAgain mobile offers, I’ll admit that I didn’t quite jump on the bandwagon immediately because I was under the impression that it was only for “new” accounts. During last year’s US Airways Grand Slam promotion, I created a ThanksAgain account with US Airways with the sole purpose of receiving a “hit”, and to be honest, I never really paid attention to ThanksAgain afterwards.
Well, after learning about this promotion, I decided to log in and see what’s up. I saw that I had one of my Visa cards synced to that account, and I had the option to “link more” cards. Since I currently have a pretty solid collection of travel credit cards, I thought to myself, “why bother adding multiple cards to this account, when I could possibly create a bunch of new ThanksAgain accounts with each of the participating airlines using different Visa cards to get the full 4,000 bonus?”
Well, the good news is: the curious cat in me possibly turned this 1,000 mile bonus into a 4,000 mile bonus (split between American Airlines, US Airways, United, and Delta). First, I logged into my already-existing US Airways ThanksAgain account and saw that I was eligible to enroll my Visa in the mobile offers for the 1,000 bonus miles. Then, I went ahead and made 3 new ThanksAgain accounts using the airline-specific sign-up links (I made different usernames) and connected a different Visa card to each account. When it came to enroll my mobile, I went ahead and followed the directions (using my same mobile number), and I successfully received a text confirmation each time.
If you’re like me and have a bazillion credit cards, I have a feeling this is the way to 4,000 free bonus miles.
Here’s how I did it:
- Logged into my existing ThanksAgain account (connected to US Airways Dividend miles account) and synced my Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa
- Made a new account using the American Airlines link and registered my American AAdvantage Citi Platinum Select Visa
- Made a new account using the United Airlines link and registered my Chase Freedom Visa
- Made a new account using the Delta link and registered my British Airways Visa Signature Card

It doesn’t work for me :( I tried two different numbers, but never get the 3 digit code confirmation to complete the registration. Did you face this issue at all?
TravelBear says
In applying did you have to supply an email address and if so did you use the same one for all?
Angelina says
@Grant: hoping it posts – it seemed to work well on my end with the text confirmations. I used the same cell number.
@worldtravller2: wow! that’s great. crossing fingers they all post accordingly :)
@Ansh: depending on your phone’s carrier/text plan it might take longer to receive the confirmations. Mine came instantly.
@Travelbear: yes I used the same email address – just different variants of my username when making the accounts

Since the expiration date of this offer is September 30, 2012, I wonder if it will count as a hit for the Grand Slam if we wait till it starts in mid-September (if it returns of course)?

Won’t take pre-paid nor Google voice numbers for text messages.

I have ATT and haven’t gotten the messages after 10 minutes. I”m getting a little worried :(
@Jimmy, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance of this not lasting until the end of September, and since it’s pretty easy to get ThanksAgain points, I’d just get these free points now and do something else for the Grand Slam.

I was able to register only 3 cards/accounts then was told I had hit the maximum number of cards allowed. Odd.

I used the same cell phone number and email, but after 3 or 4 times, I got an error that said I couldn’t use any more cards, idk whats going to happen with the points.
