In a few hours I’ll be joining 100+ travel junkies on in flight to Frankfurt, Germany & Zurich, Switzerland. Being that this is my first MegaDo, I am filled with excitement. Given that we will be in flight for 14 hours or so, here’s what’s happening this week in points and miles world:
5% off American Airlines Flights: Reader Joey messaged me telling me that the City County Council Credit Union of Florida has a nice discount for American Airlines online bookings — 5% off for any American, American Eagle and Connection flight until December 31st, 2012 without any blackout dates. This is a nice addition to American Airline’s double elite qualifying miles promotion that’s also going on until the end of the year (registration required with promo code AATHX).
Marriott Home for the Holidays $100 Bonus Bucks Promotion: Marriott has rolled out a new promotion whereby you can stay two nights and receive $50 Marriott Bonus Bucks coupons or stay three nights and receive $100 Marriott Bonus Bucks coupons. The offer valid for stays from November 15, 2012 through January 21, 2013, and bonus Bucks may be redeemed on future stays at any Marriott property and may be applied ($50 per stay) to room, dining, gift shop, or any other incidental applied to the guest folio. Although this promotion can not be combined with any other Marriott promotion, Travel By Points highlights an awesome way to get the most out of buying Marriott gift cards. Definitely be sure to check out that post again if Marriott will be in your upcoming plans.
Save 30% off Starwood Properties in Hawaii: Hawaiian Airlines and Starwood have a new promotion where you can save 30% at 11 Starwood properties in Hawaii for stays through December 31, 2012 and also earn triple Hawaiian miles per dollar spent.
20% off United Saver Economy Awards to Europe: If you have the itch to head to Europe during the period of 1/15/13 – 3/13/13 and have a stash of United miles to burn, do know that United is offering a 20% reduction in miles needed for round trip travel. For instance, a trip that would normally cost 60K miles round trip will now only be 48K miles if you book your travel before November 15. The full terms and conditions can be found here.
American Express Small Business Saturday Registration: Don’t forget that registration for one of my favorite annual promotions, Small Business Saturday, opens up promptly on November 18. The actual date for Small Business Saturday is November 24, and with each American Express card you have, you can basically earn $25 for free by shopping at a participating small business. Last year I used all of my registered cards to purchase gift cards at some of my favorite local restaurants. Now, who says there’s no such thing as free lunch?
That’s all for now! Now it’s time to head to LAX for the kick off of the most anticipated frequent flyer event of the year – the Star Mega Do 4! It’s giddy up time!
