Discussion: Leaving Your “Mark” in Hotel Rooms

August 7, 2013 by Angelina Aucello 9 Comments

An interesting article was sent my way this morning that had me thinking – is this funny, clever, or just plain tacky? At this point, I’ll say it’s a mixture of all 3.

The article from DailyMail UK discusses how a Londoner comedian leaves his “creativity” at hotels he visits around the world, claiming that he has yet to receive a complaint from any of the properties.

Here are some samples (photos taken directly from the above article) of what he’s left:a toilet with a drawing on the lid a sign with black writing on it a toilet with a face drawn on it

So what do you think? Funny, tacky, creative? Have you ever left your “mark” in a hotel room? Or have you ever found hidden graffiti during your stay? Would love to hear about your stories and opinions…

You’re kidding, right? “Tacky” is your third choice? Only teenagers, comedians desperate for attention, and the criminally insane deface property like this for ****s & giggles.

Have to agree with Bob on this one.

I agree too. He’s definitely out to get attention. But the toilet paper photo is not horrible because it’s not permanent.

I’ve never heard of this. Really juvenile. And I can’t believe no one has complained? Defacing property?? Bad news.

This just means more effort for the underpaid housekeeping staff. I suspect the joker didn’t leave a tip either.

It may be just me but when I am at a hotel or driving a rental car I treat that as it was mine. Thus, what I wouldn’t do to my property I will not do to others.

The 12 year old in me found these funny. I’ll be checking the water tanks in all my rooms now! :-)

Angelina, thanks for sharing. I would have never thought to do something similar to that, pretty juvenile. I agree 100% with @Santastico.
