A&P Supermarkets is having an amazing deal going on until 12/12/13 whereby you can get up to $60 in vouchers to use towards groceries buy purchasing select gift cards. I just came back from a shopping trip and the cashier (and myself) was in sheer amazement that the contents of my shopping cart cost me only 74 cents!
If you have an A&P close by, this is definitely not a promo you want to miss.
Here’s how I did it:
I purchased a $500 Visa giftcard at the store ($5.95 fee applies) in order to help me meet some minimum spend on a new credit card (500 free miles too – fantastic). I plan to liquidate the card later today for free on Amazon Payments to have the $500 back in my account.
Three $20 vouchers were printed with my receipt. The terms of the vouchers state that only one can be redeemed per transaction (can not be used on gift cards, tobacco, alcohol, etc).
I then went shopping by strategically grouping my groceries together to total a little over $20 each.
When it came to check out, I told the cashier I would like to pay in 3 separate transactions. I applied a $20 voucher to each order, and the remaining balance was just a few cents each. In the end, my entire shopping cart cost me a mere 74 cents!
Deals like these excite me – with so many holiday expenses to look forward to (not), it’s so nice and refreshing to save as much as I can on groceries!

Unfortunately, there are no A&P stores anywhere near me. However, I have been known to buy Shell gift cards at Winn-Dixie. The $50 total adds 5 or 10 cents a gallon to the discount for gas, and gets me a few miles/points as well.

Groceries today. I was a bit short of the $20 spend, and had to throw in a pack of gum which I gave to the cashier, who patiently helped me out. Between this and my 5 AmEx cards on Small Buz Saturday I’m $110 ahead; almost as much fun as earning FF miles!

so i went to food emporium here in nyc and what do you know, my catalinas did not print! so annoying. they are mailing it to me instead. they were very apologetic and helpful though so that was good at least.
How do I get the $500 back into my checking acct. I did the spend, got the catalinas, put into my new Amazon Payments and sent my other email address $100. BUT, I have to make a new Amazon Payment acct with my other email address, but that will have the same social. I suppose I could send to my husband, but won’t they shut me down for doing an A-B-A transfer?
