$52 Off at Staples.com and 750 Free Ultimate Rewards

October 14, 2014 by Angelina Aucello 2 Comments

This post contains affiliates links from our advertising partners, such as American Express. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here.

I saw this interesting sponsored tweet announcing $50 off of $200 at staples.com when you use Visa Checkout to pay before October 31.

Visa Checkout is advertised as a time saving service. You don’t have to log in at each website or re-type your card information for purchases. Once you’re logged into Visa Checkout, just select Visa Checkout on Staples.com and other sites and you’ll be able to pay more quickly.

My first thought was to try to buy a $200 Visa Gift Card from Staples.com, but this promotion specifically excludes the purchase of gift cards.

That means you’ll need to find actual items that are fairly priced at Staples.com that you need. If you do, you’ll get $50 off $200 (instantly during the payment process).

Obviously if you take advantage of this deal, you should pay with an Ink Bold or Ink Plus because it earns 5 Ultimate Rewards per dollar at office supply stores like staples.com. (plus right now the Ink Plus comes with 50,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months. The offer is now set to expire on 10/20.)

Also before paying, you should sign up your Ink Plus for Visa Savings Edge as explained in this post to get 1% back on purchases at staples.com.

Add it up and you’ll get at least $51.50 off your Staples.com purchase and earn at least 750 Ultimate Rewards, which I’d value at another $15.

I think Kaspersky Antivirus is FAR in this week’s ad, if you can find it in-store (I couldn’t). Limit of 3 on the rebates. Won’t get you all the way to $200 but will get you on the way!

The fine print says not valid on gift cards. Am I missing something here?
