Earlier today, my favorite hotel chain, Kimpton, unveiled a cool new feature that’s currently being offered at Portland’s River Place Hotel – a bedtime butler.
According to their post on Instagram, “You never know when the Bedtime Butler may pay you a visit. He comes with nightcap drinks (tea, port, cognac), bedtime stories, milk & cookies, fresh towels, and more! Catch him if you can…”
This is totally awesome and so Kimpton!
…but I couldn’t help to chuckle as I was reminded of a funny story told by a friend of mine…
My friend took his girlfriend for a romantic anniversary weekend away. They were too busy enjoying sexytime to hear the knocks on the door. The door suddenly opened to a housekeeper who enthusiastically shouted, “it’s cookie time!”
She had come in good spirits, but all 3 faces were stunned into silence as her jaw (and cookies dropped). If only I could have been a fly on the wall at the moment! I died laughing when he told me the story.
SO now I want to hear some opinions about bedtime butlers and surprise visits. Better yet – have you ever had a funny/awkward moment involving a surprise visit from a bedtime butler or housekeeper?
