The Chase Marriott Rewards Visa Just Got More Valuable

November 14, 2017 by Angelina Aucello 11 Comments

I have several hotel credit cards that I absolutely don’t mind paying the annual fee each year, and the Chase Marriott Rewards Visa is one of them. For an annual fee of $85 a night, I get a category 1-5 free night certificate each year, and there are several Marriott category 5 properties that sell for up to $500 a night (JW Marriott Phu Quoc, I’m coming for you). It’s a no-brainer to keep the card in my wallet year after year.

While I don’t really put any regular everyday spend on the card, it looks like I might be doing so now! I’m really excited that Chase announced Chase Offers, a great new benefit today that’s specifically limited to the Marriott Rewards Visa at the moment (but I bet it’s only a matter of time before it’s offered to many other Chase cards, too).

Chase is realizing how American Express encouraged card usage and won people over with AmEx offers, and is finally stepping up to the plate to offer their own version.

The Chase Offers benefit appears to work similarly to AmEx Offers. You’ll simply need to activate the offer, complete the spend, and you’ll receive a statement credit for the value of the offer soon after.

If you have a Marriott Rewards Visa, you’ll have to first enroll (which only took a minute) and verify your email/card number before you’re able to access and activate the Chase Offers.

Some of the current offers include:

  • Whole Foods Market $10 back on your next purchase of $25 or more
  • Dunkin Donuts 10% back (up to $10) on your next purchase
  • Lowe’s $10 back on your next in-store purchase of $50 or more
  • Staples 10% back (up to $20) on your next purchase
  • Nordstrom 20% back (up to $30) on your next purchase
  • Neiman Marcus 10% back (up to $30) on your next purchase
  • Regal Cinemas 10% back (up to $50) on your next purchase
  • Ebags $20 back on your next purchase of $100 or more
  • Many restaurant offers including WingStop, Arby’s, Texas Roadside, Papa John’s, Chili’s and Olive Garden

Bottom Line

Overall, I think this a huge stepping stone for Chase and it instantaneously increased the value of the Marriott Rewards Visa so much. I will absolutely take advantage of at least 1/2 of the offers listed above organically between my regular spend and holiday shopping. I can’t wait to see other eligible Chase cards join the Chase Offers line up!

What are your thoughts? Does this announcement enhance your opinion of the Chase Marriott Rewards Visa?

Wow. Some good deals here. In the past, my Chase Marriott card was used once a year… to pay the fee. ;)

How does one locate these offers after registering? Do they appear on the account page, like AMEX offers?

I don’t see the offers on the regular Chase site. You have to logon to separate site with the email and address you register with,

CXed my MR CC a free night in a Cat 1-5 isnt worth it. OK there are a few very nice hotels (very few) that are Cat5s but the expense of getting there and then paying for the other nights just dont make it viable for me. Yes a person can do a 4-for-5 deal so end up with 6 nights for then price of 4, but there really arent any hotels that are a Cat 5 where Id want to spend 6 nights

Now Chases IHG good at any of their hotels and an AF of $49 is a different story, if MR went that route then it would different

How did you find out about this offer? The sign up link is for chase.visaoffers.com, not chase.com or marriott.com, and there are no pages one level up at either chase.visaoffers.com/ and visaoffers.com/. I can find no reference to this offer anywhere else. Just want to make sure it’s legit before entering any info.

I wouldn’t attribute this to Chase or draw conclusions from that. I did a direct mail asking Chase about it. This was the response. Granted I don’t KNOW the customer service person is on top of things.

“Carl, the link you received was not from the Chase or on our website, and it may contain links to a fraudulent website. Do not enter your User ID or any other personal information on this website. Do not click on the links because they may contain a virus.

If you have already clicked on a link, we recommend that you run an anti-virus program on your computer.

Please be aware that the bank will never:

    * Send an email requiring customers to enter personal
    information directly into the email.
    * Send an email threatening to close a customer’s account if they do not take immediate action of providing personal information.
    * Send an email requesting a reply including personal information.
    * Send an email asking a customer to enter their User ID, password or account number(s) into an email or a
    non-secure webpage.

Please contact us immediately at the number below if you
    have already entered your information.”

To be safe I changed my password and asked for a new card and number.

This could be legit from visaoffers, but may not indicate anything about Chase.
