Nearly two years ago, I blogged about a new benefit that gives La Quinta Returns members an easy way to redeem their La Quinta Returns points on qualifying purchases at U.S. retail and online locations (restaurants, drugstores, and more) with a tap on your mobile phone and an eligible linked Visa credit card.
Now that Wyndham has acquired La Quinta and you can transfer points between the two programs interchangeably, I revisited the landing page for La Quinta’s Redeem Away and saw that the terms were updated to reflect that members can still get 1,500 free points when you link your Visa credit card and your mobile number to your Returns™ account, now until 12/31/18.
1,500 La Quinta points will get you a cup of coffee when redeemed for statement credits with Redeem Away; however, 1,500 points is also 10% of a free night when transferred into Wyndham points.
A few years back, Wyndham had made some positive improvements to the Wyndham Rewards program, where all free nights are just 15,000 points per night with no blackout dates. Additionally, you can use Wyndham Points at Total Rewards casino properties and status match all the way up to Wyndham Rewards Diamond if you got in on the Total Rewards Tier match.
While 1,500 may not seem like many, it may be enough for you to top off an award if you’re just a little bit shy of 15,000 points. Every little bit helps!
