I recently wrote about a great way to earn cash back (including $35 in ride credits to start) on Uber rides requested through the Freebird app, and I’ve been using it ever since.
If you’re like me and sometimes find that Lyft may offer a lower price on certain rides (I always price compare all of my rides to begin with), the good news is that as of today, Freebird allows you to connect your Lyft account to earn cash back on all your rides! Plus, you’ll get 500 points just for linking your Lyft account.
The only caveat is that you can only log into Freebird with one account at a time (either Lyft or Uber), but switching between the two is easy and the prices displayed through Freebird are exactly the same as the prices that’ll display when you’re requesting a ride directly through Uber or Lyft.
Bottom Line
It’s great to be able to earn extra cash back when requesting rides with Lyft and Uber.
What are your thoughts? Have you used Freebird before?
Don’t forget that if you don’t already have the Freebird app, new users can get more than $35 in free rides (in the form of actual cash back that deposits into your checking account) when signing up.
If you add someone’s referral code in there, you’ll start with $10 in ride credit (in the form of two $5 credits for each of your first two rides). My referral code is DEB99.
Then enter code FREERIDE for an automatic $25 off your first ride.

What is this about Linked Cards on the app? Isn’t the payment already entered in the Uber/Lyft?
Also, how do you get the cashback for the restaurants? Do you have to take the Uber to those restaurants specifically to earn the cashback? How do they know if I actually ate there vs just got dropped off there?
looks promising …specially if you are in a new town and just taking uber everywhere including going to restaurants for dinner/lunch etc.
